AWCIA Receives AMS Award for Outstanding Services

January 9, 2013, Austin, Texas AWCIA announced that it received the American Meteorological Society’s Award for Outstanding Services to Meteorology by a Corporation.  This prestigious award was presented to AWCIA at the American Meteorological Society’s Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony on January 9, 2013 in Austin.  AWCIA was recognized by the AMS

“For promoting and leading a new paradigm of cooperation and mutual support across all sectors of the American weather and climate enterprise.”

The Outstanding Services award is granted to a corporation or organization for contributions to the advancement of the science or the applications of meteorology. AWCIA’s award was supported by letters of reference from Dr. Jack Hayes, previous NOAA Assistant Administrator and Director of the National Weather Service, Ronald D. McPherson, Executive Director Emeritus of the AMS, and Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Jr., VADM, USN retired, and NOAA Administrator, from 2001 through 2008.
